How Ashtanga Works
Ashtanga yoga can be described as “yoga as dance”. Ashtanga is believed to come directly from an ancient text called the Yoga Korunta, although those who know the way Indian yoga “gurus” presented teachings within their traditional system question whether this text actually exists. The Yoga Korunta has never been sighted or discovered. Which isn’t to say that Ashtanga yoga is not a legitimate and beneficial sort of yoga. The Indian yoga system is itself changing and evolving. Thus Ashtanga is recognized in the arena of yoga.
Ashtanga is also called ashtanga vinyasa yoga.
Why Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga is distinguished by the dynamic connecting sequences that create a sense of flow and movement between the static postures of hatha yoga. It also emphasizes the importance of breath in facilitating movement. And the movements between the postures are just as important as the actual asanas.
Ashtanga yoga postures are a series of interconnected poses that are completed in the same sequence every time and combined with specific breathing patterns. The exact definition of vinyasa is breath-synchronized movement. Vinyasa’s purpose is to increase circulation and sweating and thus purify the body. Vinyasa really augments flexibility, and tendon and muscle strength.
Ashtanga yoga is very physically demanding, and presumes a certain level of fitness, and it is known to be helpful in mitigating excess energy in adolescents. Those who regularly practice ashtanga can learn to become very calm in mind and focus on the present while reducing stress.
To wrap up, ashtanga is a popular type of yoga because of its long list of physical and mental health benefits. Irrespective of whether it truly is an ancient practice, it has evolved into a modern pastime for many and it is a top way to manage stress and get in shape.
